Several types of adhesives are available: pressure sensitive pre-coats, solvent or heat activated. Each adhesive tape has a elastomeric binder coast which will firmly lock hook and loop in the ground weave and helps prevent raveling of tapes when cut. Due to this coating, many commercial adhesives will not readily adhere to the back of this tape. Therefore, the use of a pre-coated adhesive backing is recommended for the majority of adhesive applications. |

Pre-coat adhesives are applied at the factory and include the following: |

Porous Substrate
Requires a primer or sealer to provide a strong bonding
area.
Smooth Surfaces
For best results, rough up the surface for better performance.
Weak Substrate
Paper is a good example. Sometimes the VELCRO® BRAND
closure is stronger than the surface of the substrate. In this case, using
a reinforcing liquid adhesive may help.
For Best Results
Adhesive should be applied at a room
temperature of 68 degrees F or higher for best results. Surface should be
clean, dry and free from oils.
Use a clean wiping material with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to free
surface of contaminates and allow to dry.
Peel release liner from back of tape and apply. (Be careful not to touch adhesive
to your fingers.)
If adhesive must be applied at temperatures lower than 68 degrees F, warm
substrate and the tape to elevate temperature prior to applying. This may
increase bond cure.
Resistance to edge peeling can be improved by recessing bond area or nipping
or rounding tape corners.
Not recommended for use in water or on plastics with high concentrations of
plasticizers. Adhesives are not washable or dry cleanable.
